Arunachal: “Retailers Training Programme under Standards & Labelling Programme” of BEE held at NERIST in collaboration with APEDA
About 60 participants from all Engineering students of Degree, PG programmes, Research Scholars including faculty members attended the programme.
ITANAGAR- The inaugural function of one day “Retailers Training Programme under Standards & Labelling Programme” of Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under Ministry of Power, Govt. of India held successfully at the Department of Electrical Engineering, North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) on Friday.
The training programme sponsored by BEE was jointly organized by the Department of Electrical Engineering, NERIST and Arunachal Pradesh Energy Development Agency (APEDA), Itanagar, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh under the coordination of Dr. P. Devachandra Singh, Radak Blange and Dr. M. Deben Singh of the Department of Electrical Engineering, NERIST under the Chairmanship of Prof. A. K. Singh, Head of Dept., Electrical Engineering.
The objective of the programme is to help consumers make an informed choice about various energy consuming electrical appliances, in terms of energy savings, that would result based on each appliances’ energy efficiency performance.

The inaugural function was graced by Prof. Narendranath S., Director, NERIST as Chief Guest, Er. Smt. Asi Linggi, Dy. Director, APEDA, Itanagar, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh as the Guest of Honour, Prof. Sarsing Gao (Dean, Academic) as Special Invitee and Prof. A. K. Singh, HOD (EE) as the Chairman Organizing Committee.
Prof. Narendranath shared his thoughts on importance of energy efficient design and sensitized the students and research communities to grab the opportunities of the programme and to contribute for the benefit of the society in the effort of saving energy

Er. Smt. Linggi highlighted the importance of awareness of energy efficient appliances that can greatly contribute in energy savings towards fulfilling the mission of zero carbon emission by 2070.
The key topics covered in the training programme include: Introduction to Standard and Labelling Programme, description of BEE Star Label, BEE Star Label Appliances and Star Rating and Overall understanding of right size of appliances.
Rana Pratap Poddar, resource person from iNVENCO, Kolkata, West Bengal, an expert on energy efficient design shared his knowledge to the participants to a great extent.
