NABARD supported GI products from Arunachal Pradesh find place in India International Trade Fair

NEW DELHI-  Three indigenous products from Arunachal Pradesh, which have received Geographical Indication (GI) tags in October 2023 have found a place in the 42nd edition of prestigious India International Trade Fair (IITF), organised from 14th to 17th November 2023 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

These products, Khamti Rice, Yak Churpi and Tangsa textiles are being displayed in the GI Pavilion, by the local indigenous people of the State, demonstrating rich traditional and cultural heritage.

Supplementing the initiatives of the State Government under ‘vocal for local’, NABARD has so far supported GI registration of 18 indigenous products, by availing the expert services of Padmashri awardee, Dr. Rajni Kant.

These three products displayed at IITF have received the GI tag and others are at various stages of obtaining it.

“It is a proud moment to showcase the rich social and cultural diversity of the state in the prestigious international forum. The exposure will help the farmers and craftsmen to market their products and take the initiative forward. NABARD will continue its efforts in the direction”, informed a senior official from NABARD’s Arunachal Pradesh Regional Office, Itanagar.
