At least 8 houses burnt down in a major fire accident that broke out on Thursday night at Mongku Village in Pasighat circle. All valuable belongings including ornaments were also gutted down completely.
The victim families have been sheltered at temporary shelter provided in Govt. Primary School, Mongku village. However, the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, the official said today.
Local MLA Kaling Moyong provides emergency assistance of some cash amount and CGI sheets for temporary houses. Moyong asked administration for submission of loss assessment at the earliest so that the affected people who have been rendered homeless at this time of cold winter can rebuild their houses.
DC, Tamiyo Tatak has also urged people to remain alert to avert any such unfortunate incidents by observing all possible safety and preventive measures, particularly at this vulnerable time of dry winter period and windy conditions in the area.
A five member assessment committee led by EAC (HQ), Henkar Lollen has been constituted to assess the loss of the eight houses.
Meanwhile the locals alleged for poor service of Fire tender team in dousing fires. Fire officials accepted this fact and said that the service is effected due to shortage of staff. They said that we have three drivers against four Fire tender unit. At present there are only two water refilling points for the fire tender in the town which are very limited and more points are required.
