Chief Minister Pema Khandu congratulated the young weightlifter Balo Yalam (U-14) who won a gold medal in the girls category at the National Level Sports Competitions held under the ‘Khelo India’ national programme at Sarusajai Sports Complex, Guwahati.
The Chief Minister also congratulated Dejum Gadi, who won a gold medal in the boys category under 17-years group, and to all other participants from the state who brought laurels to the state.
Extending his congratulation, Khandu said the state is “honored and proud” of all the winners and wished them luck and success in all future endeavors.
Yalam, who participated in 48 Kg category, lifted a total weight of 114 Kg (Snatch 51Kg + Clean & Jerk -63 Kg). It must be mention here that Yalam was not allowed to participate in the 12th Youth National Weightlifting Championship held in Odhisa as she was under-aged.
Another Lifter from Arunachal Dejum Gadi, also bagged a gold medal in boys under 17-years group with a total lift of 187 kg in 56kg category. He lifted 79kg in Snatch and 108 in Clean & Jerk. Tadar Agung (56 kg) has won a silver medal in boys under 14 years category and Anai Wangsu (53 Kg) bagged a bronze medal in girls’ under 17 years category.
