Itanagar: CS inaugurates Multi storied fire Station & Yoga Centre
There are demand for creation of 47 fire station in state including 23 functional station.

The Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar today inaugurated a Multi storied building of Itanagar fire station with all amenities which have a Yoga centre in its top floor. Chief Secretary appreciated the work being undertaken by the Fire & Emergency Service unit.
Naresh Kumar emphasized on the capacity building to tackle major disasters by learning good practicing from other countries and better performing states. He also suggested creation of Yoga cum wellness centre on the top floor of Fire Station Itanagar building will help the personals to maintain fit and fine with a healthy body and sound mind by daily exercise.
Chief Secretary said that state government is trying and putting its best effort to complete several projects in regards to modernization and expansion of Fire and emergency service department in state.
He suggested for a disaster relief centre having all modern equipment for providing relief with medicines during disaster to be set up in Hollongi area with a land of around 10-15 acres, we need to identify land and with proposal to state and central government for fund for establishment of such centre which would cater to the need of emergency response for state
DGP Fire & Emergency Services, RP Upadhyaya in his address spoke detail of activities of Fire and Emergency services in state. He said that the department was initiated in the year of 1976. At the present there are 352 personnel in the Department, 87 Fire Vehicles and 23 Fire Stations.
This year 24 crore was sanctioned for modernization and up gradation construction of three Fire & Emergency services station at Itanagar, Naharlagun and pasighat. Work at Naharlagun and Pasighat is in full progress.
There are demand for creation of 47 fire station in state including 23 functional station. Proposal for 34 fire station is placed before government with proposal of recruitment of firemen and Head constable under SSB and it may be considered phase manner. he informed.
5 crore modernization fund was given out of which several procurement are being done. He said.
The DG Fire & Emergency Services appreciated the exemplary work done by Fire Service personnel in the past year. He gave the department his vision for the next five years emphasising on modernisation and staff welfare.
During the programme the fire personnel’s and others who have shown exemplary courage while discharging their duties in the last one year were awarded with trophy, commendation certificate with cash reward for their future motivation.
Unit Flag of the department having yellow and Red colour in the background with logo “ motto we serve to save” was inducted on the occasion.
SP Fire service Romil Baaniya also spoke on the occasion.
