Arunachal Civil Society (ACS) today served 7 days ultimatum to state government to immediately cancel the land allotment in IG Park or at the Tennis court campus. If demand not fulfil, then the society will launch rigorous democratic movement on that issue, said Patey Tayam, Chairperson of the society .
The ACS on Wednesday organised a Mass protest March against the land allotment in IG Park. Several individuals and organisation (social, political, student and youth) also joined the protest march which began from Akashdeep to Tennis court. Protesters were holding play card, banners and shouting slogans ‘ we condemn the land allotment in IG park’, return the tennis court, ‘we want tennis court’, ‘tennis court Wapas karo’.
There was heated argument between the protesters and the police near the AP civil Secretariat gate but was dispersed and the march moved toward tennis court for dharna for more than two hours where several leaders address the protesters on the issue.

The society’s Chairperson, Patey Tayam said that, the tennis court campus as place attached with the sentiment with the people of state as the body of a martyr Late Heri Tai is there. Beside that all the organisation and individuals those who have want to protest and sit on dharna use this designated protest ground to show their protest in the democratic setup through proper permission from the capital district administration.
How the state government can do this without proper consultation and approval of the forest department, when there is blanket ban on issue of land allotment in the capital complex, Tayam questioned.
” hundreds of applicants and files of various individuals are lying pending at various stages even several are at the final stage which are not been approved for years together and the ruling BJP govt approved within a few months is a matter of great concern and people of state want to know” he asserted.
BJP is a big party, can purchase any land as per their wish and desire, but the party should return the said land for the disposal of the general public for which purpose it is known for.
