EAC Organised Annual declamation contest

A keenly contested Annual AFWWA (Air Force Wives Welfare Association) Declamation Competition was held on Friday, 21 July 2017 at Headquarters Eastern Air Command, Upper Shillong for the wards of Air Force personnel of the Eastern Region. The winners of the contest Miss Roshini Singh of Kendriya Vidyalaya Upper Shillong in Hindi Declamation and Miss K Rishitha of Kendriya Vidyalaya Kalaikunda in English Declamation will now represent the EAC in AFWWA Central Declamation Contest to be held at New Delhi to commemorate the 85th Anniversary of the Indian Air Force.
The contest saw a total of 23 participants from various parts of North East region representing 14 different Air Force Schools and Kendriya Vidyalayas under EAC. The contest was inaugurated by lighting of the traditional ‘Diya’ by the Chief Guest, Mrs Deepshikha Khosla, President AFWWA (Regional). An impressive cultural show was presented by the students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Upper Shillong.
The jury comprised four eminent personalities, Prof Timothy Subba, HOD English, St. Anthony’s College, Dr. S Lamare, Principal St. Edmund’s College, Dr. Filmeca Marbaniang, Asstt Prof, Hindi Deptt, St. Anthony’s College, Shillong and Dr. Jean Dkhar, Asst Prof, Hindi Deptt, Lady Keane College judged the competitors in English and Hindi categories. Contemporary topics of the Declamation Contest evoked highly charged speeches from the contestants, making the task of the jury quite challenging. While giving away prizes to the winners, Mrs Deepshikha Khosla expressed her happiness over the standard of public speaking and the competitiveness amongst the participants.
