Itanagar: 2 arrested in Scholarship cheating case, investigation continue

Two accused Hillang Nima and Choki Raja of M/s Yarkum Enterprises have  been arrested in  Scholarship for the year 2017-18 cheating case.

Capital police are continuing investigation into the case of cheating in the name of scholarship applications registered against M/s Yarkum Enterprises at Naharlagun PS.

SP Capital, M Harsha Vardhan said that police have received a request from Director SJETA in Naharlagun to provide detailed information regarding the students who have been cheated in this case for necessary follow up action at their end.

During meticulous investigation by IO, SI Krishnendu Dev, a list of names of students who applied for Scholarship for the year 2017-18 at M/S Yarkum Enterprises Barapani, Naharlagun has been prepared and displayed at PS Naharlagun.

The list was prepared as per the original money receipts produced by the students and counterfoils of money receipts of M/s Yarkum Enterprises seized by IO of the case during the course of investigation. The two accused Hillang Nima  and Choki Raja have also been arrested.

SP Capital  Harsha Vardhan has appealed to the students to verify their names at PS Naharlagun and bring any discrepancy to the notice of the IO before 3rd September, 2018.

Re- verification/consideration of names will be done only with proper money receipts of M/s Yarkum Enterprises. The list will be sent to Director SJETA on 4th September and hence no claims will be entertained after 3rd September 2018.

SP Harsha Vardhan has requested that wide publicity be given to this so that final list is ready in time. He said police is taking this step out of concern for the students and to ensure that no inadvertent error is made.

It must be mention here that, students alleged that more than 1945 students has applied for scholarship through MS Yarkum enterprise, according to the forms submitted. There are many students from various districts as well as from students who are studying outside the state. They had to opt for MS Yarkum enterprise to fill the forms because many times in the previous year they made mistake in filling up the forms and the fear of being rejected. Even when the submission process went offline students talked with Hillang Nima MS Yarkum enterprise  and  he assured students to submit the forms. But the 90 % of the forms are not in selected or the rejected list.

Hundreds of deprived students had staged a dharna on 31st July last and requested to authorities for reconsideration of pre and post metric scholarship 2017-18.
