DC Longding visits fire site at SSB Colony, distributes immediate relief

Deputy commissioner Longding VS Mallik , visited the old SSB colony in Longding where a fire broke out on 19th of this month in which a double storied building was completely gutted down.
The owner of the building has been identified as Thaknai Wangsu of Chopnu village. Though there was no report of casualties, there have been a heavy loss of property in the incident.
DC meet with the victim Thaknai Wangsu on Wednesday, and handed over the immediate relief amount of Rs 50000/- to the owners and the tenants of the building.
Four tenant who were staying in the first floor also could not save their belongings during the devastating fire incident .
The DC interacted with the victims and expressed his concern over the unfortunate incident and assured them that the loss assessment of the property would be done at the earliest and shall release the relief fund immediately thereupon.
“Fire extinguishers will be purchased soon for the district headquarters to minimize the consequences during such incidents.” He added.
The cause of the incident is said to be a short circuit in the electric wiring of the adjacent kutcha room, extended as a kitchen in the building and subsequent bursting of the LPG cylinder
