Police doubt that the body might have drowned case or it may be a dead body which might have been washed away from the graveyards located on the bank of the river in upstream.

A highly decomposed unidentified body found in Papu river between Itanagar-Naharlagun near Shiv Mandir today morning.
SP Capital Incharge Pranap Tayal inform that the capital police was informed about presence of a dead body lying in between the river Papu by a staff of the Sango restaurant at around 8.30 this morning. Accordingly a team led by Itanagar SDPO Dekio Gumja, SI Neraj Nishant and other visited the spot and find that the body was highly decomposed and even unable to identified.
SDPO, Gumja while briefing the media said that as per preliminary investigation it seems that it is a body of a female due to presence of few long hair. There is no report of any missing person in the upstream area of the Papu river in recent past.

Even during the recent heavy downpour for last few weeks no such report of any causality and such serious incident have reported from the area.

However all these are expectation and it may come up if someone may report in this regard and appeal all denizens to come forward to identity the body so that the identity is established.
A UD case vide Itanagar Police station case No-07/19 u/s-174 CrPc have been registered and investigation have been launched. He said that all legal formalities is being done.
Inquest was done while post mortem was conducted and body would be disposed off properly soon. We are waiting so that some one can identity and given any clue so that the identification is established. Gumja added.
