Arunachal: Pasighat police cracks a hit-and-run case through diligent investigation
This “Hit-and-Run- case occurred in Pasighat was a completely a blind case, but we could nab the culprit within 3 days: Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Supt. Of Police.

On receiving a written FIR from one Ning Rome, S/o Sh. Otan Rome to the effect that on 10/10/19 between 1100 hrs to 1130 hrs one unknown tata sumo hit man identified as Karan @ vishnu Limbo at 2mile area in Pasighat near Essar Petrol pump which resulted the death of Karan @ Vishnu Limbo, the police launched a dedicated investigation and within around 3 days the culprit was arrested on Sunday.
The police statement reads that, after hitting the deceased the vehicle fled from the spot. A case vide PSGT PS C/No. 197/19 U/S 279/304(A) was regd. and endorsed to SI V. Lowang for investigation.
During investigation CCTV footage of 2 Mile Check gate, Pasighat was checked, the vehicle was seen fleeing from the spot, however the numbers of the vehicle plying the road was many which was not possible to pinpoint the vehicle which hit the victim. A screen shot of the vehicle( sumo- white in color) was taken.
It had certain characteristics like blackened rear glass with a red line horizontally running, a rod like bumper protector on both front & rear. Photo was circulated among the sources. It was confirmed by one of the sources that it was a vehicle that plies from Aalo in West Siang district to Silapathar, in Dhemaji district, Assam.
Receiving this info records of Raneghat checkgate was checked and found that one G.Tamang had crossed the gate on 10/10/2019 and the cctv footage of that day confirmed the vehicle, said the police.
Accordingly, he was tracked and info was received on 13/10/2019 that the vehicle was seen in the town going towards Assam, the vehicle was intercepted at Ruksin with the help of Ruksin Police and the alleged accused Ganesh Tamang (21yrs), S/O Ganga Tamang, permanent resident of village Konamukh Kochubi, PO/PS Tezpur, Dist: Sonitpur Assam, presently residing at Urban Development colony, Aalo, was arrested on Sunday, confirmed Superintendent of Police, East Siang, Rajiv Ranjan Singh.
Singh told scribe that, this hit and run case was a complete blind case which was difficult to crack. “As and when we received the FIR we launched our dedicated investigation and a team of our police could crack it within 3 days”, added Singh who has tightened his belt to make East Siang a crime free or least crime district of the state.
