Arunachal: Extend support for conducting of free and fair election- SP, DC

Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner Hemansu Gupta appeal all the stake holders and local denizens of capital complex to extend helping hand for conducting  of free and fair election in the capital complex.

DC inform that the preparation is going on in war footing. there are total seventy two polling station in the 13 Itanagar assembly constituency. 14 sector officers have been appointed and all sector magistrate have been  given special  training to ensure the poll materials, EVMs reach the Polling Station properly  and election held in proper way. three round of training to the poling parties  and 1st level of randomization have already been done and 2nd and 3rd randomization is being held shortly.

This year a new feature is included this year and VV Pads will be included in EVMs in all polling station and  1st randomization has been done. He said.

We have total five candidates in fray for the assembly election from recognised and registered political party.  the candidate are Kipa Babu from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Yumlam Achung from Indian National congress (INC), Taba Thomas from Janata Dal Secular (JDS), Techi Kaso from Janata Dal United (JDS), Techi Tolu Tara from National peoples Party (NPP). Gupta said.

Itanagar constituency  total voters are around sixty thousand and equally is man and women. During 2014 election the poling percentage was around 53 % and this year we are making several efforts  through swift activities like debate competition in various collegs, awareness  activities by  conducting of banner, and a audio visual van have been requisitioned which will be displayed various films of election commission of India in all those area where polling percentage were low. We wanted that all youths who have attain the age of 18 years and above and registered themselves as a new electors and the first time voters to involve themselves to take part in the democratic set up of the country. Awareness will be given to all for conducting of free and fair election. He said.

With regards to security arrangement and law and order problems . we have meeting with all candidates and political party and including sector magistrate and police officers to maintain peace and tranquillity and at no cost one should indulge in any breach of security of the capital. It is also the responsibility of the candidate and political party to ensure that there is no law and order problems created by their workers.

29 polling station have been so fare declared as critical polling station out of 72 polling station of capital complex, all critical polling station will be provided with half section of Central Para military force and local police and if required the traffic warden and other may also be deployed for election duty. Exact numbers of deployment is not yet finalised and it is depending on the sensitivity it may changed. Gupta said.

We are also monitoring the violation of model code of conduct and for which three flying squad  and three statistic team are deployed and three liquor monitoring teams are also on the ground and no wine shop will be allowed to open after evening 5 PM. All candidates have been requested to obtain permission for vehicle engaged in campaigning and electioneering. He added.

DC however appeal all youths and first time voters those who have enrolled themselves as voters to take part in election and cast your valuable vote from 7 AM to 5 PM and become a nation builder and their role shall help in conducting of free and fair election.

SP Capital Tumme Amo  inform that that though there are some shortage of security but requisition and demand have already been placed to PHQ and it would be shorted out soon.

Amo said that for capital police we have extra area for work and eight polling station of 14 Doimukh assembly constituency are also under the jurisdiction , 72 of Itanagar and 8 of Doimukh make a total of 80 poling station. We have classified the poling station as vulnerable, critical and normal polling station.  If sufficient force is received we will start area domination , patrolling  and other security related will be continued to all those sensitive and critical and area highly populated.

The SST, FST and police nakas are working roan the clock, we have seized large quality of IMFL/local wines, liquors, beers and other sharp weapons, more than 500 arms have been deposited. Large quantity of arm and ammunition (licensed and unlicensed) have been seized and police is active and doing its work and hope that the election is done in free and fair manner.  Till date Rs 69,12,400/  have been seized and  today only Rupees 414500/ (four lakh fourteen thousands five hundred only ) have been seized.

At present there are 2 company of CRPF, two platoon of SSB, 1 platoon CRPF from outside available, two hundred fifty seven personnel’s may also being released who will be send to East Kameng and Papum Pare rural district and there would be shortage and PHQ have been requested to provide suffice force to deal with security problems if erupted and to conduct free and fair election.

Amo further appeal the citizens of capital to cooperate capital police in maintaining law and order as well as to conduct the election in free and fair and smoothly.
