Court directed RGU’s VC for constitution of expert committee to look anomalies and irregularities in APPSCCE .

In a significant decision, the Guwahati High Court, Itanagar Permanent Bench while responding to several petitions in connection with APPSCC Examination-2017 and 2018 has reportedly directed the Vice-Chancellor Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), to form a independent expert committee with minimum five-member to look into complaints of irregularities/anomalies in setting the APSCCE prelims-2017 of all twenty two optional subjects as made by aspirants, commerce students and 221 petitioners/candidates who were unqualified.
The court directed the committee to submit the report to the court of the finding within 45 days and fixed January 7 as the next hearing date of the case.
The court order comes in the backdrop of complaints and petition from aspirants on inconsistencies in the APSCCE Prelims examination -2017/2018.
Several pleas have been filed in Itanagar bench of Guwahati high courts seeking quashing of the whole examination process and re-conduct due to alleging inconsistencies during the test.
When contacted, Secretary, APPSC, Taru Talo said that the commission as of now hasn’t received any official order or direction in written from the court but as of the court order earlier issued the commission is conducting the examination as per scheduled which would continue until further order of the court.
When questioned how many students appeared for the examination, the secretary informed that a total of 899 candidates appeared in the day one, 645 in day two and 79 out of 80 students in the third day.
One of senior advocate TT Tara when contacted said that the court have take no cognizance as such with regard to continue of the examination and said that the court want to know the allegation levelled so far and also depend on the outcome of the writ petition after submission of the report and like a fifty fifty case.
While suggesting and giving opinion as a senior citizen the advocate said that students should be provided with adequate security for those who wanted to appeal the examination and status should be maintained.
Meanwhile, the decision has evoked widespread anger among students who have been protesting since Friday.
The agitating students have affirmed to intensify their protest if commission failed to address their grievances.
However the protest continue for fourth day as the day was gap and there was no examination today and the aspirants were sitting in tennis court in IG Park since morning till filing of the report at late night.
