Parliamentary Secretary (Tax & Excise) Tapuk Taku inaugurated Govt. Model Degree College Seppa is at Wessang on Monday. In the inaugural function the East Kameng DC Rajeev Takuk, Director (Higher & Technical Education) Tejum Padu, Dy SPD (RUSA) M Riba, College Principal, officers, PR leaders, WWO members, land donors, faculty members and students were present.
Expressing the day as historic and pride for the district, Tapuk Taku congratulated the people and conveyed his heartiest thanks to the land donors for their immense contribution for making the dream of having an institution of higher education in the district into reality. He further expressed gratitude to the college faculties for toiling so hard with such limited facilities for delivering good results progressively day by day.
Informing that the PPA govt. is new and a part of NEDA, he expressed extreme hope that under the pro-development and dynamic leadership of Hon’ble CM Pema Khandu the development of the State will reach new height in few days to come. Further informing that the HCM Pema Khandu accords top priority to education sector, he assured that the demands and gaps of the college will be heard and resolved certainly by the HCM. Many development policy and plans are framed and in pipeline under the present State government. Only support and cooperation of the people is required, he added.
Regarding the memorandum submitted by the Student Union of the college, he has assured to take up the matter to the higher authority. The demands will be sorted out in phase manner, he assured.
He further assured to take up the matter regarding procurement of a bus for college to the concerned authority immediately. Further, he announced that construction of metalled approach road of the college will be commenced shortly and completed by the winter. He expressed hope in the faculty and student community to perform and achieve excellent.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Rajeev Takuk conveyed that it is a matter of extreme excitement and proud to attend such inauguration programme of educational institutions, that too institution of higher learning. It depicts that the there is progressive changes taking place in the society. Though at the moment we cannot see any differences but there is changes taking place slowly.
He appealed the college faculties and student community not to make the foundation stone remain idle rather it should become inspiration and influence the college, colleges of other districts and entire state.
Director (H&TE) Tejum Padu briefed the gathering about the history of selection of permanent site and establishment of the college. He extended gratitude to the local officers for their support for identification and acquisition of land for the college. Admitting to be a proud son of parents who have donated land for RKM School Aalo, he expressed gratitude and congratulated the land donors for such a wonderful social deed.
College Principal Robin Hissang and other faculty members have also spoke in the occasion. Cultural songs and dances were displayed during the programme.
