“Rasta Roko” on Itanagar-Jote road continue

United Sangdupota Intellectual Youth Forum (USIYF) democratic movement with ‘Rasta Roko’ on the road on Itanagar-Jote road continue for 6th day on Sunday.
The democratic movement which began with rasta roko on Itanagar-Jote road against heavy vehicle loaded which are the important source to damage of the road.
USIYF Chairman Teli Tadap Camdir said that we have been suffering lots of problems due to pathetic condition of the Itanagar-Jote road which is the only life line of the area. Many important installation and new infrastructure is being established like NIT, entrepreneur development institute, Government Law College, Film and Television Institute, Government Women College, Circle headquarter and many more including thousands of people who totally depending on the said road and due to pathetic condition of the road the activities of the people living in the area have been totally disturbed.
Tadap said our pursuing the matter with PWD Doimukh Division for years together in want of smooth and good road to the area is still a distant dream it seem. Even after the tender process have been done and for more than months together the division is yet to award the work to any executing firm so as to start the work.
He said that we have served several memorandum to the authority which include PWD department, district administration, DCM and even submitted memorandum to CM and governor twice but the condition of the road is as is was and life of the people of the area have become miserable.
He said that after lots of persuasion there have no option left to us but to go for democratic movement and we are not doing anything against the administration and authority but obeying and helping the administration. We are maintaining the order issued by Deputy Commissioner Papum Pare district No-PP/JUD-0880/2016/1076 Dated August 16 2016 ‘Executive Order’ prohibiting plying of heavy vehicle on Itanagar-Jote road from today and we shall continue our movement until the road is repaired and made worthy for movement of public and vehicle.
He said everyday we are stopping dozens of heavy loaded vehicle of some of them are loaded more than 20 tone since starting of the movement. Those vehicle are being asked not to carry so heavy load as the steel bridge over Dhokoso Nallah near Zoo is also in bad condition and a signboard have also been raised near the bridge point not to carry heavy load.
He further appeal one and all to cooperate in the movement for the betterment of the area and the people.
Moreover when contacted the police check post located near Dhokoso bridge near Zoo the police personnel said that they are also not allowing the vehicle having ten wheel and more for the protection of bridge there.
