Itanagar: SBI Ganga Branch caught fire

The preliminary investigation by the fire fighters and Police personnel of Itanagar police is suspected to be from the rooftop air conditioner (AC) which was reportedly defect and it was supposed to be repaired today.

The State Bank of India (SBI) Ganga Branch here in the city located on National Highway-415 at Akashdeep complex, Ganga Market caught fire at around 7.30 this morning.

Kamdam Sikom, SDPO, Itanagar informed that the Itanagar fire and Emergency service station received information about the fire incident at around 7.30 AM that huge smoke is coming out of bank and siren is also on. On receipt of the information the fire fighters alongwith the police personnel and Duty officer AK Singh from Itanagar police station rushed to the spot and pacify the situation.

They douse the fire from spreading in entire premises. Since the bank of closed being Sunday holiday the fire fighters have to break open the window to enter the premise and immediately and douse the fire so as to save the property and documents of thousand of customers of the bank.

However a source inform that the problem in the AC was informed to the bank authority.

Sikom said that it is a matter of investigation to ascertain the loss of property and exact cause of the fire and the first duty was to douse the fire from spreading in the premises and locality and save the life and property within shortest and easiest mode and with the support of available resource and locality.

Later Capital SP Tumme Amo also visited the SBI Ganga branch and inform that there is no loss of life or serious damage to the building or any documents occurred as fire was immediately doused.
