No Helmet, No Petrol campaign for Two-Wheeler Riders begins in Itanagar Capital Complex. Two-wheeler riders who are not wearing a helmet, or if their pillion is without a helmet, will be not given fuel at fuel stations starting July 20, 2019.

From July 20, two-wheeler riders without helmets will not get fuel at filling stations in Itanagar, Naharlagun capital complex. The capital district administration announced this, in a major bid to promote road safety as well as implementation of traffic rules..
Capital complex Deputy Commissioner (DC) cum district magistrate (DM) Itanagar capital Complex Vikram Singh Malik on July 5 2019 Vide an executive order No- DC/ICC/JUD/-1/2019 issued the order that ” that no person without wearing helmet will be given petrol at the Petrol Pump/ Refilling station in the entire capital complex.
DM also ask petrol pump owners to ask ” Those who reach your fuel stations without a helmet should be told that they will only get fuel if they wear a helmet”.
DM Malik said that in many road accidents occurred in Capital complex , those who do not wear helmets got serious head injuries.

This is like a campaign which need a mass awareness among the youths and general public of the capital complex and if possible this system be implemented in other parts of state.
The district administration also warned legal action, including suspension of driving license for not wearing helmet and arrest if riders without helmet misbehave with staff at filling stations. “When those without helmet reach filling stations, their details and vehicle numbers would be traced through CCTV footage and legal action initiated against them. Their driving license can also be cancelled.
Today was the date of implementation and maximum of the two wheelers were seen at several petrol pump with helmet either wearing or carrying with them. Some of them left away to have helmet and very few argued with the employees and get petrol without helmet.
Security personnel were also provided in Naharlagun area while the employees of almost all the petrol pump in Itanagar area were scared and some of them were threatened by the two wheelers riders and they demand security at the petrol pump at least for few days so that almost all the two wheelers riders come to know about the new order of the capital district administration.
However maximum two wheelers riders who today visited the petrol pump/depot welcome the order and said it is for the safety of riders and also appeal mostly to the youths and others to wear helmet.
