Itanagar: Mama Natung inaugurates 7th Dorjee Khandu memorial state open badminton championship-2019

The 7th edition of the Dorjee Khandu Memorial State Open Badminton Championship-2019 began here at Raj Bhawan and MLA Cottage badminton stadiums today..
Minister sports and Youth Affairs Mama Natung who declared the tournament open, He congratulated all the participants to have made it to the state level competition and wished them success.
He also said that our players had all the talent to compete in national and international sporting events and all that they required is proper guidance, care and training.
He said, state government led by chief minister Pema Khandu will leave no stone unturned for promotion of games and sports and youth welfare activities in the state.
Several infrastructure for games and sport are coming up in state and hope that all these will naturally support for a world class infrastructure to play all types of games and sport and hope that several national and international players will come up from state, Natung said.

The winners of the championship will be selected to represent the state in regional and national competitions organized by the Badminton Association of India (BAI) and Arunachal State Badminton Association, said ASBA Secretary Bamang Tago. He informed that the players will play in seven categories in the championship, ranging from U-9 to U-19 and open category.
The selected players will play zonal championship in Sikkim from September 19 to 25.
ASBA president, Techi Ratu also spoke on the occasion. Guest of Honour Arunachal Olympic Association secretary Abraham K Techi also spoke and motivated the players and appeal all stake holders to support for the development of games and sports in state.
Family members, relatives and few friends of former chief minister Lt Dorjee Khandu among other senior officials and executive members of ASBA present on the occasion.
