The Itanagar Capital Police need to disposed off vehicles accumulated at various police stations and create parking places in the premises for the visitors who visit the police station to file a FIR or any other purpose with the police.
There is an acute problem for parking of vehicle in almost all the police station of the capital complex. This is not due to non availability of space but due to accumulation of vehicle which are seized by the police and are brought at the police station premise.
Capital police chief M Harsha Vardhan while confirming the accumulation of large numbers of vehicle in almost all the police station, said that almost all the vehicles which are lying in the premises of the police station at Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa are connected with some case. Some of them are associated with the accident cases while some of them are in connection with thief cases while some are unclaimed vehicle.
When asked as to why it is not properly disposed as there is acute shortage of parking place in the police station premise, Vardhan said that I have asked all the Officer In-charge of the Policed station to furnished the detail of the vehicle available as is on basis and its case connection.
He also said that there is a process of disposing of such vehicle with by the order of court through Magistrate. If the process done at the earliest, then there would be sufficient place for parking of the vehicle of the staffs and the visitors as well.
He however appeal the citizens that at present there are around 200 two wheeler and few four wheelers lying unclaimed/claim at various police station of capital complex to verify and if found to be the owner of those vehicle may report to the PS authority for formalities.
