Dist Admin seizes huge quantity of IMFL and PDS rice

Taking serious note of ever increasing number of young people taking up alcoholism and destroying their futures, the Deputy Commissioner of Tirap, Shri P.N. Thungon ordered for sporadic raids to combat this menace.
The team of Magistrates led by Hakresha Kri, EAC(Judicial) and Lim Modi, Town Magistrate accompanied by APP / IRBN personnel were directed to raid wherein shops and hotels which are suspected of selling IMFL without proper License. Huge quantity of beer/IMFL had been recovered by team, which was later on destroyed in presence of Magistrates. Such illegal outlets of beer/IFML nearby educational institutions is matter of concern as the youths get easy access in procuring these intoxicants.
During these raids, in one of the shops 10 bags of PDS rice were seized. The rice meant for the poor villagers is being outsourced in the open market in higher cost. This is matter of great concern and Deputy Commissioner P.N. Thungon taking serious note of this illegal siphoning essential commodities meant for the poor and he directed the DF&CSO to look into the matter and warned that such pilferage if done in connivance with the FPS owners and businessmen stringent action will be initiated against all involved.
Further, the DC suggested DF&CSO and support team to keep vigil on all FPS and to monitor the FPS routinely from time to time to avoid such illegal siphoning essential commodities meant for the poor PDS consumers.
