Awareness programme on benefit of Demonetisation and Digital Payment

The District Administration Changlang under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Wayong Khimhun conducted an awareness programme on benefit of Demonetisation and Digital Payment here at Changlang Circuit house, on Monday.

Addressing the programme, the Deputy Commissioner appealed people of the district to deposit their old currencies of Rs.500 & Rs.1000 by end of this month to avoid possible hardships in future. He requested the members present to extend their helping hand to the District Administration in giving wide publicity to the people of far flung areas enabling them to deposited their old currencies if any.
In order to give a push on opening of bank accounts among rural people the DC asked Manager, SBI to submit the list of Accounts opened through Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna as well as the list of left out people to enable them to avails various central govt assistance extended through DBT.
While encouraging the people for adopting digital payment system, the DC informed that govt is providing incentives by the way of 0.75% discount to customers using cards, mobile wallet, etc at PSU Petrol Pumps in order to promote cashless transaction.

Rakesh Chutia, resource person from SBI, Changlang explained various modes of cashless payment namely; USSD, e-wallet, Cards, Aadhaar Enabled Payment System, Point of Sale (POS) in detail as well as the procedures to avail these facilities for cashless transactions. Changlang COs Ms Jannes Mary Tayeng and Ms Shanti Mize also spoke on the occasion. The programme was attended by HOOs, PRI Members, Public Leaders, Executive Members of CTTCA, Managers of SBI and Apex Bank from Changlang.
