Arunachal: Robbers Vandalise 2 SBI ATM at Itanagar

State Bank of India (SBI)  Ganga Branch was attempted burglary today at wee hours. The Robbers entered the bank after breaking of Window vandalised two SBI ATM and other property of the bank but was unsuccessful in taking away with any cash.

Capital Complex Superintendent of Police Sagar Singh Kalsi informed that it is an incident of attempted burglary in the SBI Ganga Branch on the intervening night of 30 and 31st January. The burglar entered after breaking the window entered the Bank premise and vandalised two ATM which were kept for the convenience and transaction purposed of the customers, one Godrej safe kept in the Cash Manager room.

Kalsi said that there have been no loss of cash as reveal by the official of the SBI. As per technical surveillance there was one burglar so far.

When asked about the lack of security of security lapse in the financial institution Kalsi said that in the month of December 2017 we have conducted security audit for all the banks in capital complex . we have written to all the bank to increase security. The last case of vandalism is different as the mode of operandis different from earlier wherein in more than 40 ATMs were vandalised. There was couple while in this case only one miscreant was spotted.

Banks should keep guard with safe window and doors with high resolution CCTV, alarm system etc for their safety and security of cash other property of the customers and bank. He said.

Kalsi however said that SDPO Itanagar Dekio Gumja have been instructed in this case and we are trying our best to nab the culprit.

Meanwhile the Itanagar Police after registering a case after receiving of FIR by SBI vide case No-30/18 u/s-457, 511, 427 IPC RW Sec 3 of PDPP Act and investigation have been launched, SDPO Gumja informed.

Meanwhile SBI Ganga Branch Manager N.N. Saha said that when we come today as usual we find that the Two ATM were vandalised, One CDM Machine and another Cash dropping machine have been vandalised and it would take more than 15-20 days for repairing, one almirah have been damaged while window from the front side of the bank have been cut down by the miscreant. Though due to which the bank was not able to function of half day and the normal work was resumed Saha said.
