Arunachal: APSCW rescues women, baby girl from Majuli

APSCW rescued a women with her baby girl from Majuli , Assam.

The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women, (APSCW), Itanagar, headed by its member-secretary, Yame Higio, accompanied with officials team D.Deb, OSD, Tern Yabi, Accountant and K.L Sharjo, LDC, and Women Police team from Women Police Station, Itanagar SI, Nich Rupa, constable J. Sangkey had proceeded to Majuli on Thursday morning to rescue the lady victim Baby Tao alias Rani Regon with her minor daughter Munu Tao.

Accordingly, the APSCW team had meet with the Additional Superintendent of Police, (HQ), Majuli, Leena Doley and Deputy Superintendent of Police, (HQ), Majuli, Deepjyoti Talukder and discussed the instant matter. Further, the official procedures had been done by the office of S.P, Majuli and the lady victim with her minor daughter had been handed over to the APSCW team after being discharge from Civil Hospital, Majuli, Garamur.

Later on the evening, the lady victim with her minor daughter had been brought back to Itanagar and kept at Oju Women’s Short Stay Home, Naharlagun for her safe custody / temporarily shelter till the matter is settle.

The chairperson, Oju Welfare Association Ratan Anya personally called the doctor to check up the status of the health of victim lady. Now, at this juncture the OWA is providing the medical treatment at TRIHMS, Naharlagun and consultation with the Psychiatrist to revive her health status.

On being enquired, the victim stated that her husband’s name is Tasa, working as a night chowkider in PWD  and she came from Palen to Itanagar, then from Itanagar she had proceeded for North Lakhimpur for her medical treatment but she was dropped at Dhakuakhana by public transport, later she was brought by Majuli Police, (Assam) to Civil Hospital, Majuli, Garamur, but she did not remember how she had reached there at Majuli.

Officials from Itanagar Police along with representatives of Arunachal Pradesh State Woman Commission and Woman Helpline went to Majuli and have rescued the duo. They are now in Oju Shelter Home.

This case highlighted the seamless coordination between Capital Police, Woman Helpline and State Woman Commission. SP Capital M Harsha Vardhan said that police assisted immediately in the case without thinking about jurisdiction. It is not clear if the woman is from Capital district. Even then capital police have reached out to the woman in distress. He further appealed that anyone with information about the family of the woman should come forward and help in resolving this situation.
