GOC DS Ahuja and Arun Kumar Meets CS Assam

Lt Gen DS Ahuja, General Officer Commanding 101 Area accompanied by Maj Gen Arun Kumar, GOC 51 Sub Area called on the Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam, Shri VK Pipersenia at his Office in the State Secretariat, Dispur.
The General Officer discussed a number of issues with the Chief Secretary. The ongoing water crisis at Narangi and Bashishtha Cantt was discussed in details. The issues of handing over of land for establishment of Army Institute of Nursing and the problem of illegal occupation of forest land around Narangi Cantt were also deliberated upon in detail.
The GOC also called on the DG Assam Police, Shri Mukesh Sahay at the Assam Police HQ. The two officers deliberated upon the security situation in the State and issues pertaining to Rear Area Security.
It is pertinent to note that 101 Area with its Head Quarters at Shillong, has a major role to play with its Area of Responsibility extending across the entire length and breadth of the North Eastern Region of the Country covering all the Seven States. The role of the formation in addition to other things includes Rear Area Security, Disaster Management, Aid to Civil Authorities as Internal Security Responsibility when called upon, Welfare of Ex-serviceman and Veer Naaris. The formation also contributes towards the development of the region and environmental preservation.
