Capital Police Chief M Harsha Vardhan launched the 30th Road safety week at Dera Natung Government college (DNGC) campus today under theme ‘ sadak suraksa-jeevan raksha’.
Attending the launching programme as chief guest Vardhan said that “there are several traffic rules and regulation for safety and security of drivers and commuters and pedestrian as well. We need to follow these rules or otherwise the traffic personnel’s will penalised as per Act and several laws have provision for imprisonment upto 10 years.
In the year 2018, more that 74 traffic related cases were registered in capital complex only. There were 18 fatal accidents where several person have lost their lives. A total of 30 young lives have already lost which could have been avoided if precautionary measures are adopted.
Capital police have been launching various traffic checking across the capital complex for the welfare of the commuters. There have been acute shortage of manpower even if the traffic warden have been appointed for traffic regulation we have been able to collect around 43 lakhs thirty thousand only in a year 2018. The revenue collected for various sections like not use of helmet, triple ride.
He however said accident is accident but helping the victims will not attract any legal complicacy and appeal everyone to help the needy persons.
ITBP Frontier Headquarter, Assistant Commandant Punit Sachideva highlighted various traffic rules and regulations, he also shows various precautionary measures need to be taken during driving. He also highlighted various types of road accident due to negligence through power point presentation and video clipping.
Meanwhile this 30th Road safety week will continue till February 10. Today programme which held at DNGC will continue in various parts of capital complex with mass awareness and road show and street play. The week long programme is being organised by ITBP in collaboration with Capital Police.
