As portable water is responsible for many water born diseases causes, PHED&WS department has procured two mobile water testing laboratory (MWTL) vehicles which would move across the Arunachal Pradesh to ensure supply of safe drinking water to the masses.
PHED&WS CE Toko Jyoti, said that the MWTLs for water quality testing is intended to cover rapid testing of basic water quality parameters in remote and hilly areas; where there are no laboratories within a reasonable distance of the sampling station.
The MWTL shall provide support during natural disaster, epidemic, large scale emergencies and refugee camps and/or to areas without electricity supply. A significant advantage of this mobile laboratory is that the tests are carried out on fresh samples whose characteristics have not been contaminated or otherwise changed as a result of storage in a container, thus it must be used for areas that are sensitive with respect to some water quality issues, he added.
Meanwhile, PHED&WS Executive Engineer, Itanagar Tadar Mangku informed that a training on the MWTL and rain gauge operation and maintenance will be given to all engineers of the department and lab assistants by a team of service engineers of the company so that in any case there is required of any testing of water in respective area they can supervise the MWTL vehicle fitted with all required machine and equipment with chemical required for the testing. Since the vehicle is assessable to any parts of state where road commutation is available and would serve better for the department and state in general, Mangku added.
The MWTL vehicle is scheduled to flag by Chief Minister Pema Khandu on August 13. he added.
