Northeast Fiesta-2018 showcases NE culture in Punjab

The two-day long 3rd edition of Northeast Fiesta which was organised on 7th and 8th April, 2018 by Northeast Student’s Organisation, Jalandhar in association with Viva Collage Jalandhar, show cased the NE culturein Punjab.
With the aim of Celebrating Culture, Connecting People and Transforming Life. This event Northeast Fiesta which is the biggest carnival of Northeast India in Punjab was organised to showcase the cultural diversity of all the Northeastern states of India to all the people of Punjab with a cultural exchange program.
During the cultural festival the folk dances, folk songs, handloom, art exhibition, photography and tourism exhibition was presented from all the eight states.
Not only that there was a discussion session on relevant topics of Northeast which was discussed and the eminent speaker for the discussion session was Arvind Mishra a Guinness world record holder.
Vijay Sampla, honourable minister of state for social justice and empowerment, Government of India, a member of Parliament from Hoshiarpur congratulated the students of Northeastern states of India for bringing the cultural diversity in Punjab and expressed best wishes for the success of this festival and also given his consent to be the Chief guest of the festival.
This year a very talented daughter of Sikkim, Ms Kritika Sharma an FBB campus princess winner 2018 of Miss India organisation was the showstopper for Linthoi and Nandini and not only that she mesmerised everyone with her Bollywood songs and danced a Sikkimese folk dance.
As the concept of this festival is exchanging cultural folk songs and dance by the active participation of local artist where a renowned Punjabi celebrity designer Ms Parika Tattar from Jalandhar showcased her fashion line up too.
“We the Northeast students studying here in Punjab eagerly wait for this annual cultural festival as all the Northeastern students get together and create a mini Northeast during the event and learn through cultural exchanges with the host city Jalandhar” as told by one of the students studying here in Punjab. Celebrity singers from Northeast enthralled the audience of Punjab.
This year Northeast Fiesta saw an International twist as Niharika Gyawali a celebrity singer from Nepal was present life during the last day of the event. And professional models from Afghanistan and few models from African countries participated in the designer showcase.
Jeakson Singh Thounaojam, the first goal scorer of India in FIFA tournament and Nongdamba Naorem, both hailing from Manipur and India’s Under-17 Football World Cup 2017 squad, graced the event as guest of honour with their presence.
The local visitors enjoyed and also complimented the ethnic cuisines from Northeastern states of India.
“Northeast Fiesta will be held in future so that we can promote and link the culture of both the Northeastern states of India with the host state Punjab and portray the tourism potential and boost the business relationships in the region” as told by Komal Chutia the head of Media Northeast Fiesta.
