Itanagar: Philately Exhibition held
India post is the only department which can reach the most interior and remote places and provide services to the people- Prince Dhawan.
Director Postal Services, Arunachal Pradesh Division, organised a Philately Exhibition at Science Centre Itanagar today. Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest the Deputy Commissioner Capital Complex Prince Dhawan said that India post is the only department which can reach the most interior and remote places and provide services to the people.
He stressed that in this technologically advanced world, Postal Department has not lost its importance and still providing its best services to the people. He also stressed that one of the most important components of an election is Postal ballot and it is the responsibility of the postal department to transport these ballot papers timely during elections.
He also lauded the Department for organising the event and hoped that people from all walks of life would be benefited with the knowledge as stamps collected from all over the world through ages were displayed during the programme.
Senior Journalist and Philatelist, Pradip Kumar Behra also attended the ocassion as the Guest of Honour .
Students from various schools in the capital complex participated in the day long exhibition. A seminar on Philately and quiz competition was also held among the students on the occasion.
Philately is the study of stamps and postal history and other related items. It also refers to the collection, appreciation and research activities on stamps and other philatelic products. Philately involves more than just stamp collecting, which does not necessarily involve the study of stamps.
