Government e Marketplace is a online national procurement portal, which realizes the Digital India vision of contactless, cashless and paperless mode of governance. GeM has also been incorporated under Rule 149 of the General Financial Rules 2017.
It may be mentioned here that the Government of Arunachal Pradesh was amongst the 6th State of the Country which signed MoU with GeM on 11th July’2017 at New Delhi represented by Commissioner Finance Ashish Kundra, and the Government of Arunachal Pradesh is contemplating to take a cabinet decision on the matter.
The GeM is completely online and end-to end integrated e-procurement portal for the producers and services. The GeM has a potential to grow and will bring in a lot of decision making within the Government. Under the GeM regime, the vendor payments will be made to the vendors within 10 days of the receipt of goods/services unlike the offline mode where payments are sometimes dragged for months and years.
Deputy CEO, GeM Gaurav Sharma, spoke on the occasion as the resource person. On 22nd the Workshop shall be conducted for the Sellers wherein more than 1000 vendors are expected to participate and get on boarded on the GeM platform.
