He further said him to placed sufficient machineries and equipments in important sectors to expedite the progress of works and to make BRO’s presence in the state. He also said to sufficiently widen the hilly road in turning points citing that narrow turning points are one of the causes of accidents in hilly areas.
Referring to the Kalaktang accident in West Kameng district on Sunday, CM said them to immediately clean the debris of landslide on the road once the weather are clear in hilly roads and to place machineries in various locations, for the purpose.
Reiterating the importance of border connectivity, Chief Minister asked the Chief Engineer to expedite the works to border areas like Hawaii to Dimwe, Hayuliang to Chaglagam, Namti to Kibithu, Brahmakhund to Arowa and Roing to Anini citing that these roads are strategically important. He also enquired about the progress of works of bridges over Dhipu River along Roing-Tezu road and Deopani River at Roing which are significant for inter districts connectivity between Lohit, Lower Dibang Valley and Dibang valley Districts.
He also suggested to ask for enhancement of maintenance fund for Arunachal Pradesh as most of the roads pass through the hilly terrains and steep slopes frequented with landslides.
Chief Engineer Mehta said that the BRO is re-orienting all the works with necessary corrective measures. He assured the Chief Minister that the standard quality shall be maintained by them and strict check on selling of construction materials to the public shall be strictly checked and controlled. He said that the surprise vigilant check has been initiated to check such illegal selling of construction materials and said to take stern action against the officers and officials of BRO found indulging in such activities.
He also informed that the bridge over Diphu River will be completed by December 2016 and Roing to Koronu road via Paya will be completed by March 2017.
He also said that the long due bridge over Deopani river at Roing has been handed over to a new agency, Poddar Construction Agency, Delhi while informing that the construction of bridge is going at rapid pace now and will be completed by December 2017. This bridge if completed will serve as the lifeline for the people of Dibang Valley District.
He also informed that 110 meter Tilua Steel Bridge along Tohangam to Hayuliang Road will be made thorough for the vehicle to pass by December 2016.
