Arunachal Speaker P D Sona reaches Uganda for Common Wealth meet

Sona is likely to deliver a speech on common issues concerning the Commonwealth nations, a release issued by his office said here.

Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona today reached Kampala in Uganda to take part in the 64th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference, which is being held from September 22 to 29.

The Speaker, accompanied by the Additional Secretary of the Assembly Secretariat, Kago Habung, and Joint Secretary Agaab Mossang, arrived at the Commonwealth Resort Munyonyo at Kampala, the national and commercial capital of Uganda.

The Arunachal Assembly Speaker is part of the Indian delegation, which is being led by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. The delegation comprises presiding officers and secretaries from various State legislatures, who are members of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA).

The theme of the 64th CPC is ‘Adaption, engagement and evolution of parliaments in a rapidly changing Commonwealth’. National speakers and delegates from over 53 countries are attending the 64th CPC.
