Assam: ‘ROYAL ites take pledge to ban Single Use Plastics’

In the wake of Global Warming becoming a world wide crisis & Plastic Pollution adversely affecting our habitat, .A.K.Pansari, Chancellor, Prof.(Dr.) S P.Singh, Vice Chancellor, Deans of schools, the students, , faculty & staff of Royal Global University took a pledge to ban single use plastics at the university campus on 26 September 2019.

A rally was taken out on 27 September by the department of Sociology in the surrounding areas of RGU shops, hotels, restaurants to create an awareness and educate on the harmful effects of plastic pollution. This is also in consonance to the requirements of the Assam Government and UGC’s directive to create awareness through educational institutions.

The students also pledged to reduce the usage of plastic & to prevent environmental degradation. It is a known fact that plastic products are harmful to nature, hence students vowed to educate their peers, family members & the entire community at large to promote usage of steel, glass, cloth, paper & eco friendly products in an attempt to make the university a more environment friendly zone.
