Chief Minister Pema Khandu today laid the foundation stone for a Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV) and a Govt Polytechnic College at Anini.
Also present on the occasion were State BJP President Tapir Gao, Art & Culture Minister Dr Mohesh Chai, Tourism Parliamentary Secretary PD Sona, Planning Parliamentary Secretary Zingnu Namchoom, local MLA Rajesh Tacho and former Lok Sabha MP Laeta Umbrey.
Later in his public address at Govt Higher Secondary School auditorium, the Chief Minister said VKVs have made immense contribution towards educational upliftment in Arunachal. He said Arunachal has 36 VKV schools for which the state government has contributed corpus fund for smooth functioning of these schools. He said during his tenure he would continue to support VKVs.
The Chief Minister thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Home Ministry for grant of Rs 15 crore each under BADP for four new VKV schools in the state. He also thanked MoS Home Kiren Rijiju for pursuing the matter. The other new VKVs to be opened are at Lajo, Nafra and Mukto.
He further said the Home Ministry has sanctioned Rs 5 crore each for upgrading the existing VKVs at Amliang, Niuasa, Koloriang and Chayangtajo.
The Chief Minister also assured support for construction of Govt Polytechnic. Earlier PWD officials briefed the Chief Minister on the master plan for construction of Polytechnic College.
The Chief Minister earlier met members from Idu Mishmi Cultural and Literary Society (IMCLS) and VKV Alumni Association of Dibang Valley. The members thanked the Chief Minister for his contribution towards establishment of VKV in Dibang Valley expressing that it was always a dream to have VKV in this remote district.
