Arunachal: Experts team visits Flood Protection Work site at Seijosa

A joint team of experts/ officers of Brahmaputra Board(BB),Central Water Commission(CWC),Govt of Arunachal and Govt of Assam on Saturday visited the site of proposed project ” C/O Flood Protection work at Upper Side of Dekhoria Irrigation Project near general ground , Seijosa of Pakke Kessang district of Arunachal Pradesh.
The Pakke Kessang MLA Biyuram Wahge, Additional Deputy Commissioner T R Tapu, DFO Pakke Wild Life Sanctuary Seijosa Tana Tapi with Senior Public leaders , Ex-Panchayat Leaders , Gaon Buras and Public also accompanied the Team and inspected the flood affected area.
It must be mention here that , The Arunachal24 team had visited the site during the month of January this year and make a story.

It is pertinent to mention here that Kiren Rijiju, the local MP and Present Sports Minister, Govt of India had promised to get the project sanctioned after seeing the gravity of the flood and erosion problem in the area during his visit to Seijosa at Pakke Paga Hornbill festival in January’2016 . Union minister had directed the WRD department to prepare estimate and Submit. Accordingly, the estimate has been prepared as per site condition and submitted and is laying at CWC, New Delhi since April’2018.
When no initiative was taken in this regard then locals raised this issue once again and it was one of the prime issue during the last Assembly and Parliament Elections.
Local MLA Bihuram Wahge and the local people made several visit to Delhi and met Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, and concern authorities and requested them to help to the hundreds of families whose land already erosed by the flood and now hundred of families of Seijosa town are in dangerous position.
At last as advised by the department of water resources, Ministry of Jal Shakti, a team of experts visited the site of the project area of the proposed flood protection works near general ground at upstream side of dekorai irrigation project at Seijosa is to be under taken on
The team comprised with P M Scott, Chief Engineer B&BBO Shillong & Vice Chairman Brahmaputra Board, G P Singh Chief Engineer Brahmaputra Board Guwahati, V D Roy Director (Monitoring & Appraisal) CWC Guwahati, Likar Angu Chief Engineer WRD Govt of Arunachal Pradesh, A A Siddique Superintending Engineer, WRD Jamin Arunachal Pradesh, Prasanta Deka Director Design irrigation Dept Govt of Assam, D Pegu E E Irrigation Itakola Div Assam, Utpal Nath E E Irrigation Tezpur Division Assam, Riju Saikia JE Irrigation Dept Assam, Hanu Techi Tara AE (Independent Charge) WRD Seijosa, A K Pandey JE WRD Seijosa.
The experts would jointly give their views / suggestions on proposing a way forward for resolution of the issue and for obtaining necessary clearance which will ultimately enable early implementation of the flood protection scheme for Seijosa.
