Naharlagun Police has arrested five persons from various places in the township area and seized one 9mm pistol along with two live rounds and around 85 grams of suspected heroine from their possession.
SP Capital M Harsha Vardhan informed Arunachal24, that all of them are part of a nexus involved in supplying drugs from Assam and using Banderdewa as a transit route to the capital complex area.
The recovery of 9mm pistol has raised concerns about involvement in other criminal activities like extortion and robbery. These arrests are likely to disrupt the network of suppliers and peddlers in Capital complex area.
He said that the operation of Capital Police lasted many days and involved careful follow up of leads generated by each arrest. First lead was received when SI S S Jha spotted one of the arrested persons with a pistol while on routine patrolling.
The 5 accused arrested in connection with Naharlaugn PS case No-119/18 under various section of Arms Act and NDPS act.
Arrested accused identified as Nada Tatung ( 25 ) resident of Lower Subansari district and a present resident of Ganga, Itanagar, Shankar Bora ( 33 ) resident of Sonitpur , Assam, Jiten Biswas ( 28 ) resident of Banderdewa, Assam, Amir Hussain(32 ) of Banderdewa, Assam and Mukhtar Ali (22 ) of Mangaldoi, Assam. SP added.
