The new Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly building, which is nearing its completion of construction work, is ready to hold its first session on May 12.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu who today inspected the upcoming Assembly building was informed of the status of the ongoing works and its state of readiness by Speaker Tenzing Norbu Thongdok.
The assembly building hall has come up with most advanced facilities that has seating capacity of 90. It is fitted with ultra modern audio system and a high podium for speaker. Large TV screens are mounted on the walls to display the proceedings of the assembly with roofs carved with glittering lights. The building also hosts visitor’s gallery and a media gallery on the first floor.
The executing agency informed the CM that the main assembly hall is cent percent complete while only landscaping and gate work is pending. They assured the CM and team that the remaining work will also be completed in the given time frame.
Deputy Speaker Tumke Bagra, PHE& WS and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bamang Felix, WRD Minister Kamlung Mossang, Art & Culture Minister Dr Mohesh Chai and MLA cum Chairman Tesam Pongte accompanied the Chief Minister during the visit.
The Assembly building that boasts of gen-next infrastructure houses office chambers for CM, Speaker, Deputy Speaker and resting hall for legislators, which the Chief Minister inspected. He also inspected the library hall, cafeteria, conference hall etc.
Later the Chief Minister held meeting with department officials seeking updates of the ongoing and the pending works.
