Workshop on Government eMarketplace (GeM) concludes

The Two Day State Consultative Workshop on Government eMarketplace (GeM) ended on Friday at the State Banquet Hall with the hands-on-training of the Vendors wherein more than 1000 nos vendors participated the workshop organized by Department of IT & Communication in collaboration with GeM, GoI and National Institute of Smart Governance, Hyderabad.
Smt. NeelamYapin Tana, Director IT & Communication where addressing the gathering in her welcome address dwelt on the importance of the GeM and how one can earn money while sitting at his or her place of business or at home without having to contact the buyers directly. She also discarded the apprehension of difficulty in operating the GeM and said that GeM portal is very convenient to use just like any other online shopping portal flipkart, Amazon etc. She later urged the participants to make full use of the workshop and get themselves fully trained to be part of the seller through GeM.
Prince Dhawan, Special Secretary IT & C who is also the Deputy Commissioner of Capital Complex in his address said that Govt.is the biggest buyer in the context of Aruachal Pradesh and urged all the vendors to get themselves registered and avail the opportunity to be part of Govts supply chain with any biasness and in a very efficient and transparent manner. In Govt.of India offices, the procurement through GeM has been made mandatory and the same shall also be adopted by the State Government very soon for implementation of procurement through GeM. The procurement through GeM is legally fully valid and and with this the manual process of procurement through obtaining quotations and tenders has been done away with. And the sweetest part of benefit of the GeM is that it ensures timely payments by buyers to the vendors within 10 days. He also urged upon all the business communities to open current account for their respective business entities at the earliest for which even the Power of Attorney format has also been simplied by the Capital Administration to encourage digital transaction using aadhaar linked devices such as BHIM, Upay etc., the Capital DC in collaboration with th Department of IT &Communication has announced free distribution of Aadhar enabled payment devices worth Rs.15000/- free of cost to first 800 vendors/merchants with a condition that the vendors have registered on GeM and have current account. Further, speaking as DC Capital on the event, expressing serious concern on the frequent bandh culture in the Capital, he urged the merchant communities to denounce the bandh culture in the Capital Complex which greatly hampers the poor business communities of the State and requested the merchant communities to help and cooperate with the capital administration to contain the menace of the bandh culture.
Sagar Singh Kalsi, Capital SP, while speaking on the occasion as Special Invitee said that Gem cannot be polished without friction and likewise even the GeM procurement would also have certain friction at the initial stage but would be over come with passage of time and become easy to use. He also urge the participants not to take law into the hand and any one taking law into hand shall be dealt with iron hand and shall not be tolerated at all cost and said that police force is fully prepared to deal and contain the bandh culture and requested the business communities to come out with teaching the full form of ABC which stands for A for Aana (to come out on bandh), B for Bandobast (Police fully prepared) and C for Camera (Media & Administration).
Earlier speaking on the occasion Gabriel D.Wangsu, Chairman State Council for IT & e-Governance, starting his delivery remarked that he often finds the merchant/vendors in a gloomy face and urged them to be always cheerful and happy while dealing with the customers. And he said; that it’s a great day for the people of Arunachal Pradesh in general and capital complex to be at par with the rest of the country to become a part of the Pan India supply chain.
He further said that; under the leadership of our young and dynamic Chief Minister Pema Khandu ji, we are marching towards digitally empowered society. And signing of MoU with GeM bears testimony of his conviction towards bringing in transparency in the Governance thereby creating a digitally empowered society. And all this could have been possible under the continuous and full spirited guidance, support lof our young Chief Minister Pema Khandu ji.
Speaking on the occasion he also announce to provide free internet connectivity for Ganga Market and Aakashdeep market in collaboration with DC Capital in the first phase to enable and encourage digital transaction.
