DFO directed to take necessary action to arrest the culprit for killing of wild animals and birds in Upper Siang district.

Taking strong exception on a viral in social media, which shows the rampant killing of wild animals and birds in the name of a festival at Simong village of Upper Siang district, Chief Conservator of Forest (CCF), Central Circle, Pasighat has directed for immediate action from concerned divisional Forest Official (DFO) Yingkiong.
CCF in a strong directive to DFO, Yingkiong has directed to proceed to the spot along with field staff and seized all such wild animals, birds and arrest the offenders as per the provision of Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.

Further, CCF has also sought action taken report and directed the DFO to take necessary support and assistance from Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, if required and also to ensure combing operation in other areas of the division on regular basis.
The video in social media went viral showing haul of wild animals and birds like civets, mongoose, barking deer, flying Squirrel, jungle flow, pheasant and others are being displayed in public place without any fear of Forest Department which is painful to see the destruction of wild animals and birds which need to protected for the ecological balance as per wild life protection Act. The letter added.
Further, similar direction have also been sent to DFO, Pasighat, Aalo, LIkabali and Daporijo to make different groups and start regular combing operation in such are and directed to take strong action against the culprit.
