Late Kalikho Pul Cremated with Full State Honour

The mortal remains of former Chief Minister Kalikho Pul was cremated with full state honour at his native village at Walla (Hawaii) in Anjaw District today. Thousands of people gather to pay homage and bid a tearful adieu to their beloved leader.

Mohesh Chai, MLA Tezu speaking on behalf of the bereaved family members before the funeral said that the immature death of former CM Kalikho Pul is not only a big loss for his family and Anjaw District but also for whole of the state and the country. He said that he was a visionary leader and had a plan for the development the state and to take the state to a newer heights. His vision for the development of the state could be visibly seen at Hawaii which he has developed into a role model for other district headquarters in the state to follow.

He further said, in his death, not only his children become orphan but all those poor children whom he was personally financing for their studies in private schools and colleges, have become orphan too. He further said that he not only had a fatherly figure for the people of his constituency and Anjaw District but he was like a saviour (jiwan data) for them as he not only helped the poor and needy, in times of need, not only for their medical treatment but also for any kind of rituals like death or festivals. He was also a main pillar and a binding force for the Mishmi community as a whole as he often used to come forward and actively participate in any kind of social activities. He also used to act as a mediator in case of any differences between clan or among Mishmi communities.

On behalf of the bereaved family members, he thanked the people of the state for their love and support rendered to the family in this hour of grief. However, he appealed to the authorities, especially to those who are in the helms of affairs to take forward the vision of Kalikho Pul and work dedicatedly for development of the state for the eternal peace of the departed soul.

Among others MLA Kameng Dolo, Jarkar Gamlin, Tamar Murtem, Tage Taki, Laisam Simai and Mutchu Mithi, Tapir Gao, Ex-MP (Lok Sabha) and President State BJP, Kameng Ringu, Chairman PPA, Kafa Bengia, President PPA, Hage Kojeen, Commissioner (GA/DA) and Nobin Payeng, IGP also expressed solidarity and sympathy with the bereaved family.

Parimal Shukla Baidya, PWD Minister, Govt of Assam who along with Padma Hazarika, MLA Assam came to Hawaii to pay homage to the departed leader to represent the Govt of Assam on behalf of the Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal in the funeral.
