Itanagar: Rain water enters shops, bank premises due to poor drainage system

Few minutes of rain creates big trouble for shop owners, bank officials situated near the civil secretariat at E Sector on NH-415. Within few minutes after rain, the rain water start entering in to their shops, bank premises and within few minutes it reaches up to knee. In this situation shop owners become compell to shut down their business. Not only shop owners, Maharashtra Bank situated at this locality also facing the same problem.
They are facing this problems only due to absence of proper drainage system in this locality along NH-415 near AP Civil secretariat at E Sector.
When Arunachal24 reporter visited the site near the main gate of Arunachal Pradesh Civil Secretariat at E Sector have seen ” one RCC building having more than six shops a branch of Bank of Maharashtr and several other small offices were flooded. Due to absence of proper drainage system rain water was entering in to the shops bank and offices premises”.
A shopkeeper Gichik Tachu and a local resident T Konia inform that ” we facing this problems only this year”. This problem has arised may be due to road construction, they said.

Shop owners and locals have informed administration and official of the contractor engaged in road construction about this problem, but no action have been initiated so fare.
One staff of the Bank of Maharashtra inform that today is the third time in this season we are facing water logging problem in side bank premises. The branch have suffer a lot, due to this water logging the electronic gadgets, battery, inverter, and computer appliances of the bank badly damaged.
However we have constructed a small protection wall of around one feet but it was also not enough and to stop the rain water. The ATM machine located outside the branch have also been affected. All the activities of the bank have been affected. The official added.
