Itanagar: Capital Police Arrested Naharlagun’s Bunty aur Babli

The Capital police have arrested a husband and wife from Naharlagun who are drug addicts, and they steal houses on Bunty and Babli style to buy drugs.

Naharlagun police recently arrested  a couple ( Joram Tang, 25, and his wife Nikh Yajur (Joram)) of Yachuli village of Lower Subansiri district, currently living at Pappu Nallah in connection with a theft spree.

According to Tumme Amo, SP Capital Complex “the NLG PS has been receiving many complaints of day light theft cases from various corners of Naharlagun town for the last few weeks. One such was registered in Naharlagun PS  wherein the miscreants stole away huge quantity of traditional beeds from D Sector”.

SDPO Rike Kamsi along with OC Insp K Yangfo and IO SI G Tape, had visited all places of occurrence and analyzed CCTV footages. The modus operandi in all cases interestingly, the miscreants looked for opened doors and check if the occupants are present or not. They execute their plan if the occupants are absent then, but if occupants present they behave as if looking for rental accommodation.

The miscreants take away whatever they find unattended, like clothing items, traditional ornaments, laptops etc. Thus, steal pictures of CCTV footages were circulated among all sources and one of the sources informed the IO on October 18 that some suspects were seen roaming. A police team led by the rushed to the spot and nabbed the miscreants.

They confessed to their crime during interrogation and led the team to recover large quantity of stolen items – traditional beads, clothing items, two laptops and mobile phones. Further probe is on to recover other stolen items. However, they also admitted that they are drug addicts and commit such thefts to buy drugs, the SP said, and exhorted Capital Complex denizens to install CCTV cameras in their residential premises and remain extra vigilant to prevent such thefts.
