ITANAGR- The Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society ( APWWS ) has written to the Member Secretary of the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights and the Child Welfare Committee in the Itanagar Capital Region regarding a viral video depicting the beating of a school child.
In the letter, President APWWS Kani Nada Maling expressed deep shock over the incident, urging authorities to conduct a thorough inquiry and emphasizing the importance of the child’s well-being and safety.
Maling also called for swift intervention and a proper investigation into bullying at Sangey Lhaden Sports School, highlighting that the incident might not have surfaced without the viral video.
She appealed to the concerned authority of Sangay Lhaden Sport Academy to immediately constitute a committee to unearth the incident taking place in the hostel and take necessary action against the person involved, ensuring that no such incident happens in the near future.
Furthermore, she mentioned that although no complaint has been made to the Society, it is often heard that such incidents take place in many school hostels. This incident involving children should serve as an eye-opener to all school authorities.
Additionally, Maling questioned the government for the delay in reconstitution of the Arunachal Pradesh State Committee for the Protection of Child Rights and called for its early reconstitution.
However The Itanagar Capital Region SP Rohit Rajbir Singh clarified that “ The viral video is not related to the incident. Police is trying to find as to where the viral video is from, whether it is old or recent, or if it is from another state, which time period it is from. We still dont know it yet, but we are on the job,” said Singh.
The Authorities of Sangay Lhaden Sport’s Academy informed that the viral video is not connected to the actual incident. However, a report of severe bullying incident had indeed taken place at the SLSA, yesterday night wherein a senior student had purportedly abused the younger students.
As per information by the authorities, the Warden of the hostel was on a 4-day leave when the gruesome incident took place.
Meanwhile, the School authorities and the Police have initiated an inquiry into the incident and have assured to take stringent action against the accused persons.
