In the East Siang district, a 22-year-old man, identified as Shibu Baishya, beheaded his niece’s lover, 19-year-old Ajay Das. The chilling act occurred in the Ruksin area near the inter-state boundary with Assam.

According to the police, Baishya carried out the murder in a field, driven by agitation over Das’s romantic involvement with his niece.
Both the victim and the accused were migrant labourers from Assam.
Baishya walked into the Ruskin police station, carrying the severed head, and surrendered himself to the authorities.

Officer-in-charge C Joseph confirmed the incident and stated that the accused was arrested. The Ruksin police team promptly rushed to the scene of the crime and recovered the remaining body parts of the deceased. After completing the necessary legal formalities, the body was sent to the hospital for a post-mortem examination.
A case has been registered under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in connection with the incident.
