Arunchal: Sub junior state ranking badminton league from May 10 to 12-Bamang Tago

The tournament will have participation from all  23 district unit and 22 badminton clubs in the state.

Arunachal State  Badminton Association (ASBA) is all set to organise its first-ever sub-junior State ranking badminton league scheduled to be held here from May 10-12.

The tournament will have participation from all  23 district unit and 22 badminton clubs in the state featuring the upcoming energetic young shuttlers that will compete for the prestigious title here at the state capital.

Announcing this, ASBA, Secretary, Bamang Tago informed that the tournament will be held for both boys and girls and singles and doubles whose age falls under the sub-junior category of under 9, 11 and 13 age category respectively.

He said that the participants were churned out from district level tourney conducted across the state and top-rated winners will be given chance to partake in upcoming Dorjee Khandu memorial Badminton Tournament.

Tago said that more than 50 participants are currently undergoing rigorous coaching at training camp under qualified coaches being set up at Raj Bhawan Badminton court.

“We have included the tournament in the annual badminton calendar event and will conduct it thrice every year, Tago added.

Meanwhile, six  young shuttlers from the state have been selected for training at Andhra Pradesh and others places under the guidance of Badminton Association of India (BAI) and another promising shutter is receiving training at Indonesia being sponsored by Indian Badminton Association(IBA). And two budding players who had undergone an intensive training session are back in state to participate in the ranking tourney.

Thanking the family of Late Dorjee Khandu who have donated a huge land free of cost for construction of multipurpose badminton Hall with a capacity of three thousand seating capacity.

He inform that the tender process is underway and due to election process it may have delayed and soon the tender process will be completed and hope that a world class badminton stadium come up in the state capital.

However at present we are arranging the badminton events at MLA Cottage hall, Rajbhawan Hall and now a new hall have come up near Waii International and hope that the every sports in state come up in big way and become a industry and all those youths who have interest in games and sport chose it as a career.

He further inform that around three hundreds participants will take part in the three day state level event. All sports lovers specially badminton lover are invited to boost up the morale of the young players. Tago added.
