Ruling BJP legislators PD Sona and Tesam Pongte, who were elected unopposed as Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Arunachal Assembly on yesterday, have pledged that they will work for the development of their respective constituencies.
Sona is MLA from Mechuka while Pongte represents Changlang North Assembly constituency.
“Even though I am Speaker, development of my constituency will be the priority . Projects that have been initiated will taken forward and it will benefit the poor and underprivileged . For that I will discuss with the Government. This Government is for everyone,” the Speaker said.
When asked on work coordination between Assembly and Government, Sona said, “Assembly is an autonomous body, its a constitutional setup. Government and Assembly are two entity but at the end of the day larger perspective is development of the State. As a Speaker, I will perform my duty in an unbiased way ”.

While the Deputy Speaker said, “I thank to the people of my constituency who voted me for the second time. They have faith on me and I will work for them.”
“Whatever challenges that will come to me as a Deputy Speaker, I am ready to work without bias . My work is to assist Speaker whenever he will give me an opportunity. I will try to run the House smoothly in a conducive manner,” he stated.
