Arunachal: NERIST developed fruit harvesting ladder
NERIST has developed a fruit harvesting ladder for hilly agriculture district of Arunachal Pradesh, specially for harvesting Oranges.

North East Regional Institute of Science & Technology (NERIST) has developed a fruit harvesting ladder for hilly agriculture district of Arunachal Pradesh under the sponsored scheme of All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Ergonomics and safety in Agriculture (ESA),
Through this Fruit picking or harvesting ladders , it is easy to access into the very heart of fruit trees for easy fruit harvesting. The wide base gives fantastic stability while the narrow top and single back leg allow positioning right into the heart of your fruit trees without damaging branches.
Constructed from industrial duty aluminium, their corrosion resistance will ensure they will give years of trouble free service. The base features anti-slip feet while the back leg features a sturdy aluminium ground spike to ensure it stays where you put it.
A three day demonstration programme of the developed ladder for harvesting of oranges was organized at 5 villages namely Pobdi Village, Gumibane village, walk village, Bene Village and Kabu village of Aalo circle west Siang district on 15th ,16th and 17th December 2018.
The programme was sponsored by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). Local Gaon Burahas of the villages were invited for the programme.
About 70 farmers along with Gaon Burahas participated in the demonstration. Agriculture development officer was apprise about the programme.
