Arunachal: Idols of Goddess Durga vandalized in Doimukh, 3 arrested

Three person have been so far arrested in the vandalizing of Idols of Goddess Durga, and they will be produced before judicial magistrate- Jimmy Chiram, SP, Papum Pare.

Several idols of Goddess Durga in  Durga Puja Mandap (Pandal) no 2 of Doimukh organized by Doimukh Bazar welfare committee have been vandalised by the miscreants on intervening night of October 5 and 6.

Bazar welfare committee President Dobum Robi informed the media that It has never happened in the history of one of the oldest township of the state. Miscreants involved in the vandalizing incident must be arrested it is our demand.

Durga Pandal No-2 (Doimukh Market Committee) Chief Patron Nabam Takar informed that there was two incident in the township late night which include a theft case and the vandalizing of idols of Goddess Durga.

One should not communalized the issue as the vandalizing of idols have not affected the enthusiasm of the devotees. We have arranged few small idols in place of the same and the prayer and other programme is being continue,  Takar added.

Takar further said we have been celebrating several fairs and festivals together with all tribes and communities and this incident have no connection with any religion and community, but the miscreant should be arrested at any cost.

On the other hand Several Durga Puja committee members of capital complex today meet Papum Pare SP Jimmy Cheram and demanded immediate arrest of the all those involved in vandalizing of the idols in Doimukh township Market line. They also appeal one and all not to communalize the issue as it have not affected the Durga puja celebration in the Doimukh and any parts of state.

Papum Pare Superintended of Police Jimmy Chiram while briefing the media at Doimukh Police station said that there was a written complain received today morning that the idols of a goddess Durga in pandal No-2  have been vandalized in the Doimukh township in the market area. A case have been registered at Doimukh Police station case No-63/19 u/s- 448, 427, 295, 34 IPC and launched the investigation.

We find that this is not the incident fixed targeting. This was related to some personal issue and the miscreants have come there. He said.

Yesterday night the Doimukh police was on vigil and patrolling was already there. there was another case and lots of people were there in the Police station and we were trying to handle that situation and in between this vandalizing incident come in. he said.

Later another fight in the Market line was there in wee hours and whole night the police was busy handing all the cases and it come to early around 4 AM. The written complaint was received at around 8 AM. Cheram said.

A total of three cases have been registered including the Durga idol vandalizing case. one minor has also been brought to police station in another case of yesterday and legal formalities is being done.

Three person have been so far arrested in the Durga idol vandalizing case and they will be produced before judicial magistrate. Chiram inform.

Further investigation is being done to ascertain other person in the said case if any and further arrest. SP added.
