Changlang Police and Assam Rifles on Saturday apprehended four NSCN(K-YA) members of Burmese nationality here in Longkhi, near Shallang.
Acting on input by its own source about presence of Burmese individuals in the area, Changlang police and 9 AR launched a joint operation, informed Surendra choudhary, SP Changlang.
During the search of suspected area four Burmese national and a local resident of Longkhi village were apprehended alongwith drugs including Opium worth 2.76 lakh and three mobile phone with sim cards.
A case has been registered u/s 10/13 UA(P) Act, sec 14 A foreigners Act, sec 17, 18 , 25,29 NDPS act at Changlang police station.
There were inputs of NSCN(K-YA) planning to target security forces in Changlang, SP said.
In bid to foil any security threat, Changlang Police & Changlang Bn of Assam Rifles are conducting sustained operations against UGs activities in Changlang district.
Earlier in ongoing operations in last two months many top NSCN cadres have been apprehended which includes SS Capt Wangjin Pantha who was active since 2009.
And also several arms and ammunition like AK, Ammunition, drugs & other have been recovered like stores in last two months. Movement of UGs, drug paddlers, contraband, extortion money is under check due to joint MVCPs ( Mobile Vehicle Check Post) by Police & Assam Rifles. SP added.
