Body of Late Mepung Phassang Cheda, wife of the Chopa Cheda, editor of ‘The Arunachal Pioneer’ and former President of Arunachal Press Club (APC) was brought to state capital today afternoon. Hundreds of family members, relatives, well wishers , members from Arunachal Press Club, Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalist , Arunachal Electronic and Digital Media Association and several leaders of students organisation were present at Naharlagun helipad.
Late Mepung Phassang Cheda breathed her last at a Chennai hospital on Wednesday following a prolonged illness. Mepung, 39, is survived by two sons and four daughters.
Born to Late Chakang Phassang, Mepung was loved and admired by all for sincerity and hard working and soft spoken.
The younger sister of state BJP vice president Tame Phassang, she was also the former chairperson of Gyadom Welfare Society (women wing) and was actively associated with several social welfare activities in East Kameng district and capital complex.
Lawmaker Hayeng Mangfi, Goruk Pordung, BJP state Vice President Tame Phassang, several leaders from BJP, AAPSU, Media association, media house, leaders from several social welfare and NGOs were present during the arrival of the body which was later brought in a huge convoy of hundreds of vehicle in a procession to her resident at Senki Park area.
The last rite will be held on Friday, a sources said.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu and other senior officers and political leaders are expected to pay tribute to the departed soul.
Earlier the media fraternity under the aegis of Arunachal Press Club (APC), All Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) and Arunachal Electronic and Digital Media Association (AEDMA) mourned the demise of Mepung and prayed for her eternal peace.
A woman with a beautiful personality, integrity, and action; Mepung lived a short but meaningful life. She would be always remembered.
