The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) along with Mrs Neelam Misra attended the 36th Sharodiya Durga Puja celebration at Kali Mandir, P-sector, Itanagar on 14th October 2018. The Governor unveiled the Murthi (Idol) of Goddess Durga and lighted the traditional lamp.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that the main asset of festivals is wellbeing of all, including the flora and fauna. The rituals and traditions embody positivist, knowledge, creativity and goodwill. Therefore, the customs and devotional rituals must be preserved, practiced and propagated, the Governor emphasised.
Appreciating the devotion of the people, the Governor recalled the Durga pooja he attended in his native place 68 years ago. He advised all to continue the pursuit of one’s own cultural heritage and ethical practices.
Swami Partho Shastro, Bharat Sevashram Sangha, Itanagar Centre also spoke on the occasion. Guest artist Ramanuj Dasgupta, accompanied by Expert Tabla player Miss Sunayana Ghosh and musician Sukhendu Shekhar Das from Kolkata, rendered melodious ‘Bhajan’ at the function.
Organised by Bharat Sevashram Sangha, Itanagar and Rajdhani Sarbojanin Puja Committee, large number of people from all walks of life attended the programme.
